Light Sheet Microscopy

With an eye that combines science and sensitivity, Myriam Sapjer unveils the delicacy of the cerebral vascular network. Using Light Sheet microscopy, this image reveals the sinuous paths of the blood vessels that irrigate every fold of the brain, ensuring its oxygenation, nutrition and balance.

This fragile meshwork, whose rupture can cause strokes, is now attracting new interest in biomedical research: vascularization anomalies are also implicated in certain neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism.

By making this buried architecture visible, the work invites us to see the brain as a living landscape, complex, vulnerable and deeply connected to human health.
